Anne Rice's Writing Style

I have to admit, as much as I dislike Anne Rice as a person, I absolutely love her storytelling style - many of her books are just characters sitting around and telling each other stories that only fit together at the end. This sompletely derails the standard narrative structure. Though, to be fair, I have not read anything Rice has written in 20 years or so. Warren Ellis also writes action series consisting mostly of conversations, another favourite. I'd love to read and watch more series like this, lots of conversations, lots of filling in backstories by telling them. Popular media often suffer from characters not having backstories because the creators cannot think of a way to incorporate them without stopping the story in its tracks, when a conversation would suffice. It annoys me greatly.
