The roommate and I watched an episode of Running Man Thailand. So fucking funny, as usual.
The roommate and I finished rewatching We Are. Love this show so much!! PondPhuwin are everything, and Pond especially is adorable in this role. Kind of funny compared to his current role as Thee tbh.
The roommate, best friend, and I watched the latest episode of Only Friends: Dream On. The reactions to the ArnoldDean video were kind of overblown, but I think it'll all shake out pretty quickly so it's whatever. RomeRaffy having some cute moments, but I'm worried for the next ep...
The roommate, best friend, and I watched the latest episode of Love Upon a Time. Love that we're getting bits of Klao's past but also it's not quite fitting together yet.
The roommate, best friend, and I started watching Magic Move. It's cute so far! Very curious how the fake-childhood-besties-to-lovers storyline will go.
The roommate, best friend, and I started watching Love of Silom. Enjoying it a lot so far even if it's different than I was thinking it would be from the trailer! Poom as Wayu is soooo pretty, wow.
The roommate, best friend, and I started watching Shine. It's fine so far? Idk, Be on Cloud productions are a super mixed bag for me, so we'll see. I would appreciate them getting some lighting though.
The roommate and I went to see The Silence of the Lambs in theaters for the 20th anniversary. It was fun! I've only seen it once before and didn't remember much, so it was cool to see on the big screen.

I've been getting more into ATLAS lately, so I've been watching a lot of their music videos. Still a lot of PERSES and LYKN happening as well. There's been a lot of new music out lately!

I finally finished the ArmTae fic I've been working on for the past two months!! Almost 10k, which is pretty wow for me. Very happy to have finished it though :)

The Jeeves Omnibus Vol. 2:
Right Ho, Jeeves: skipped bc I just read it in another volume.
Joy in the Morning: 1947. Eh. Not his best work.
Carry On, Jeeves: 1925. MY FAVORITE! SO GOOD!

The Best Kind of American: A True Story of Murder, War, and America's Undoing in the Middle East by Kim Ghattas. 2026. ARC. Read twice so I could write a coherent review. This book is a tour de force of investigative journalism, an extraordinary journey covering the last 50-ish years in the Middle East, from the Carter Administration to the current Trump regime. Structured around the murder of Malcolm Kerr, the president of American University Beirut, by Iranian-controlled assassins, and the story of his family, it explores a wildly complicated conflict centered on Lebanon, but involving Israel, Iran, Syria, France, the US, Germany, and others. Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, and various splinter groups are contextualized in their struggle against Israeli and Western powers. Most importantly, Ghattas is unbiased, putting blame where it's due in all corners. Contains multiple murders, kidnappings, hijackings, and episodes of torture -- war on many levels -- but also the search for justice through the courts for the Kerr family. Highly recommended.

The Cloak and Its Wizard by R.Z. Nicolet. 2026. Magical sentient cloak chooses a middle-aged female neurosurgeon as its new wearer. I did not see the superheroes coming and thus did not care...until suddenly I did. The last half of the novel is pretty great, but it takes a bit to get rolling.

Israel: What Went Wrong? by Omer Bartov. 2026. Excellent contextualization of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from 1948 through the cease fire of late last year. Includes the October 7 attacks & Israel's retaliation. Goes into Israel's lack of a constitution and the consequences of that. Discusses the charges of apartheid, brought by South Africa, against Israel in the International Criminal Court. Finally, suggests 4 different plans for peace between Israel and Palestine. My opinion: Israel desperately needs a constitution, and Bibi desperately needs to spend the rest of his life in prison for war crimes. Which aligns me with Israeli leftists. This is a grim book, but it's relatively short. There's a bibliography, but no notes.

full moon in Scorpio this Friday just as the protests are kicking off. Later in the day, Mercury conjoins Chiron in Aries. An apt time for airing grievances. A bit more potential for violence than I'm entirely happy with, but I'm hoping for the best.

The world situation is the world situation. If you're following the news, you know it as much as I do, if you're not, then there are better sources than scans_daily. But please, no doomscrolling, for your own sake.

Apologies, this has to be a short one due to time commitments, but will just say that in terms of over the top dramatics, absurd scripting and bad actors (in oh so many contexts), not even the most outrageous daytime soap opera can compete with the US right now, with special guest star monarchs and everything.

I occasionally rotate my default icon, going between the ones I think are both "general, not expressing a specific reaction/emotion" and "especially pretty." Whatever I have as current default is usually the one I like most right now.

Setting this entry to the computing one. Decades ago, when I was really little, my family had a computer that would play this pattern of shifting squares -- it must have been a screensaver of some kind, I can't imagine what else it would be -- but I've never been able to find it in collections of retro/classic screensavers. And "abstract color-changing squares" isn't something you can narrow down on google. If not for somebody else making this icon with the exact right colors/combinations/pacing, I wouldn't be sure if it was something I really saw, or just something I imagined.

There's a special kind of nostalgia to it. Like a screenshot from a cartoon that blew your mind when you were eight, and then you never managed to watch it again, so there's a magic to the memory that never got tainted or tarnished by "oh no, it didn't hold up."

...so, uh, does anyone reading this know what this pattern was called? What OS was it shipped with? Who came up with it? Or at least, what niche Reddit community do I need to ask to solve this mystery?

I heard that Magic Knight Rayearth was getting a remake about a month ago, which of course revitalized my interest in finally watching the show. I plan on starting it soon (probs today lol, we'll see), but I'm pretty excited to start it? A 90s manga/anime featuring mecha, magical girls, isekai, and it's CLAMP??
