Feb. 23rd, 2021 03:03 pmInstead of my usual parade of misery, I propose atheoretical scenario, a sorta philosophical game.
Once upon a time, an empire fell. From its ashes rose several smaller nations, including Kingdom X, covering provinces inhabited by multiple nations/tribes of the former empire, none of them being dominant in terms of population or wealth. A teen noblewoman was chosen as its absolute ruler to appease various factions.
The Queen wasn't particularly tyrannical, however, she was a poor ruler not really interested in improving the population's standing, and her government heavily favoured the kingdom's largest tribe at the expense of the others.
Meanwhile, a neighbouring nation called itself heir to the fallen empire and started a campaign of reconquering its former territories. Kingdom X, poorly developed and without allies, stood no chance, and all its tribes suffered from genocide until the wannabe new empire found itself swallowed by an alliance of angry neighbours.
That was over fifty years ago. Now, you are the elderly former Queen's personal doctor. While the woman suffered terribly during the invasion and occupation, she was never put before a court for what she has done as a ruler - however, she never regained the crown and lost most of her fortune. You have grown up on the stories of how horrible a queen she was, and now you have the chance to get a revange for your tribe's sufferings while being in little danger of being ever uncovered. Do you kill her?
